Getting to the Slopes for the End of the Season

While the skiing season is going strong with great powder across the country, spring can be unpredictable in Canada. February may be the end in many places, or hills could run right up until the beginning of April, in every province in the country. If your family wants to hit the slopes before you miss the chance, here are some great options.

We’ve got a google map list with all the ski hills we could find for you, so you can choose the locations that work best for your itinerary.

Cape Smokey, Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia has a few great options for skiing, but Cape Smokey is something particularly special, with its stunning ocean views from the hilltop. Run by volunteers, they have sales for March break tickets right now.

Prince Edward Island

PEI has one lone ski park, Mark Arendz at Brookvale, but don’t discount it! The hill also has tubing, snow shoeing and cross country skiing amenities.

New Brunswick

There are 5 ski resorts in New Brunswick, with Poley Mountain having the most trails and lifts.

Newfoundland & Labrador

With three ski resorts in NL, there are a few options. Marble Mountains is the tallest, with 546m of elevation and 43 different runs to try out.

Quebec

Mount Tremblant, Quebec

With the Appalachian mountain range ending in Quebec, there are so many options for ski hills and resorts, over 80! Mount Tremblant, just an hour and a half from Montreal, is not just about skiing. With spas, shows, shopping and more, everyone can find something to love here.

Ontario

Ontario’s ski options may not have quite the same elevation as Quebec, but there is still plenty of great locations to choose from. Blue Mountain, just west of Barrie, has march madness deals right now, if you’re looking for spring break getaways.

Manitoba

While the prairies don’t get the same elevation, the smaller hills are great for our kids still getting used to being on the slopes. Manitoba has 8 hills to choose from, the tallest being Asessippi, close the border of Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan

With its flat reputation, people may be surprised to learn that there are actually 9 ski hills in Saskatchewan. Table Mountain, just west of Battleford, is a great option.

Alberta

Mt. Assiniboine, Banff National Park, Aberta

The Rockies start in Alberta, which of course mean some epic slopes. Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper of course have amazing resorts. But there’s also the Olympic park in the Calgary region, and many other great options.

Yukon

There are 3 skiing options in the Yukon. Mount Sima is the tallest one, with an elevation of 335m.

British Columbia

The skiing king of the country, BC, hosts 87 different ski resorts. Whistler is a stunning tourist town, with its resort having an astonishing elevation of 1609m. Once the kids are ready to move beyond the bunny hill, this will keep them happy for days.
